In this article, I will show you to how to save a Word / Excel Document as a Pdf. You need to start by downloading a free program called Primo Pdf by clicking here. Once downloaded, you need to install the program, which is a really simple and quick process. Once you have installed the program, use the steps below to start using Word Documents as PDF files.

Converting Your Document

Open or create the document in Microsoft Word / Excel, then select “Print” as if you were going to Print the page. You will see the below print screen. Select PrimoPDF.

Then select OK, which will bring up the screen below.

The above screen is where you select what settings you want to use to create the PDF. I have selected the “Print” tab which will create a larger PDF file, but the quality of the image will be better. For example, when I create color brochures in Word, I use the “Print” tab to have great quality. If you want this document to have a password, you can configure that by selecting “Change” beside the PDF Security button. If you want to email the PDF once it is created, you can select that option in the “Post Process”. Once your settings are the way you want them, select “Create PDF” and you will get the screen pictured below.

The above screen is asking where I want to save the PDF. You can save the PDF to your Desktop, Documents, or whatever location you would like. Select “Save” and the document is saved in the appropriate location and if you selected a post process such as emailing the pdf, the process will be executed.

Last Note

Primo PDF creates an icon on your desktop that says to “drop files here to convert”, so all you have to do to an existing Word or Excel document is drag them to the icon, and the process starts.

If you have any questions or comments, please leave them and we will reply in a timely manner.

I am going to show you in this quick tutorial how to configure Microsoft Outlook to keep a copy of your email messages on the email server. This is very handy if you are using a POP email server. If you are using a POP server, what that means is the email messages are being downloaded to your local computer from the mail server. Once the messages are downloaded to your computer, they are removed from the server. If your messages are accidentally deleted, that means they are gone. With this tutorial, you will be able to keep the messages on the server after you download a copy. In the incident that your messages are deleted, you will have a backup copy on your server.

So lets get started, start by opening Outlook and select the “Tools” menu.

From the Tools drop down menu, select Account Settings which will bring up the below screen.

In the above picture, my email says “surveys@xxxx”, yours will show your email address. Click on your email address and then click on the “Change” button above.

In the above picture, select the “More Settings” button which will bring up the below screen.

In the above screen, select the “Advanced” tab. Then select “Leave a copy of messages on the server”. You will see two options that are pretty self-explanatory. Make the appropriate selections, then select OK. Close out the following screens and you’re done.

From now on, a copy of your email messages will reside on your mail server. Depending on who your email provider is, the messages may be deleted over a period of time or you may have a storage limit for your emails. This tutorial does not take account for those circumstances.

Feel free to ask questions or leave comments. Thanks and I hope this helps.

Have you ever wanted the text size in Windows 7 to be larger? Maybe you were reading a document, or couldn’t read the menu options of a program without straining your eyes. Well this quick tip will show you how to do that.

Start by opening up the Control Panel from the Start Menu.

Then click on “Appearance and Personalization” which will bring up the screen below.

Click on “Display” on the above screen.

From the above screen, there are two ways to make the text larger. You can use the preset options which are Smaller-100% (Default), or you can select Medium or Larger. If you want to select larger text, you can do so by clicking “Set custom text size (DPI)” on the left window pane, which will bring up the screen below.

From the above screen, you can use the “Scale to this percentage of normal size” drop down menu. Once you select a percentage on the drop down menu, you will see the text size. Then select “OK” and your settings will be saved.

This is a quick tip that may help you out if you are having difficulty reading the small text in Windows 7.
